Welcome to Unit 40 Food Services

Welcome to the Effingham Unit 40 Schools Food Services Department! We are proud to serve nutritious, high-quality meals that help fuel student learning, growth, and success. Our dedicated team is committed to providing balanced, appealing meals in a safe, welcoming environment where every student can enjoy breakfast and lunch each school day. Whether your child is starting kindergarten or preparing for graduation, we believe a healthy meal is an important part of a successful school day.

Meal Service

Breakfast is served daily beginning at 7:30am at our school buildings.

2026–2027 Meal Prices

Milk: $0.40

Grades K–8 Breakfast: $3.00

Grades K–8 Lunch: $3.50

Grades 9–12 Breakfast: $3.10

Grades 9–12 Lunch: $3.75

Additional Meal Options

At the high school, students may choose from traditional meal options on Lines 1 and 2, while Lines 3–5 offer à la carte items available for an additional charge.

At the junior high, students may purchase extra milk and additional meal portions for an additional fee.

At Central Grade School, extra milk is available for purchase.

Managing Your Student's Meal Account

Families are encouraged to regularly monitor their student's meal account balance through the Parent Portal. Students may also view their account balance on their school-issued device.

Funds can be added in two convenient ways:

Online through the Parent Portal (credit card processing fees apply)

By sending cash or a check to your child's school office for deposit into the meal account

Please note that students with a negative meal account balance will not be permitted to purchase à la carte items or additional food selections until the balance has been resolved.

Our Commitment

The Unit 40 Food Services Department is committed to serving nutritious, appealing meals that encourage healthy eating habits and support student achievement. We strive to provide every meal in a clean, safe, and friendly environment because we know that students learn best when they are well nourished.

Our department is staffed by 31 dedicated professionals, including our Food Service Director, Cafeteria Coordinator, head cooks, cooks, and cashiers, who work together each day to provide exceptional service to our students.
