Re: First semester finals at EHS

There have been a number of harmful factors outside the control of both students and faculty which have had a significant impact on student learning. For these reasons and in the best interest of our students all EHS students will be exempt from first semester finals in the 2020-21 school year. Additional information regarding finals include:

Dual credit students will be required to take finals.

Lake Land College requirement;
Remote and on-line dual credit learners will be guided by their instructors as to the dates and nature of their final exams.

There will be no changes to the process in determining GPA and Class Rank.

At this time no decision has been made regarding second semester. If final exams are given in the spring, existing requirements to waive these exams will be re-evaluated. The goal is to have a decision regarding 2020-21 second semester final exams in January or February 2021. Please call the EHS office with questions at 540-1100.

Thank you.

IDPH has updated their Exclusionary Guidance document. This one-page document contains the parameters that the Effingham County Health Department, local health providers and Unit #40 will follow. This document very clearly spells out the required documentation the District will need to allow students to return to school on a regular basis.

Please read through and also share with your health care provider when appropriate. Thank you for your help and cooperation.

                                          .............................................
Attached is the recently updated IDPH frequently asked questions school document regarding COVID-19 (updates in red). Unit #40 has held ongoing meetings with the Effingham County Health Department on this information. We will continue to move forward to meet the requirements from IDPH.
We thank you for your continued support and understanding in this matter. Together we will continue to persevere to provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff. Thank you.

Our Story

Welcome to Effingham Unit #40.  We are excited to share the story of our students' journey towards academic excellence.  Every day, a team of dedicated teachers, administrators and support staff collaborate with one another in an effort to prepare our students for the global stage.

District Dashboard

For your convenience, we put together a District Dashboard that provides our stakeholders with the ability to view how the district uses its resources to ensure student growth is occurring.  [This site is best viewed in Chrome.]

The dashboard provides users with a unique view of how the district's learning environment and financial resources are used to ensure student success.

Additional information, including the school report card, is available on the district's academic performance page.

In closing, we want to thank the community for its ongoing support and providing us with the ability to create an environment "where the search for excellence" occurs in classrooms across the district on a daily basis.
